National Hug Day - Thursday 21st January

Of all the things the Coronavirus pandemic has stolen from us, hugs are at the top of the list for many.

The simple action of embracing creates oxytocin, a chemical in our bodies that scientists sometimes call the “cuddle hormone”. It's feel-good energy for both the giver and recipient. It calms your nervous system and boosts positive emotions.

Research proves that hugs can help alleviate stress, anxiety and depression. Several studies suggest that hugging can help reduce blood pressure, especially helpful if you’re feeling anxious.

Hugs can also boosts the release of serotonin, which is another transmitter that promotes feelings of well-being and happiness.

So what’s not to love? Hugs make you happier, healthier and more relaxed!

Why not offer that friend or family member you’re missing a virtual embrace in the form of our beautifully hand crafted ‘Hug’ mug by Karen Fern Ceramics. It will make a loving gesture to someone whom you’re unable to see and hug right now. Add one of our Mindful Calm Cocoa Hot Chocolate packs to warm their heart from the inside … and take them to their ‘happy place’ .
